After recently returning from a visit to my old Bomb Base, after an absence of fifty years, I dug-out my long stored memorabilia of World War II. I was shocked to find how pictures of places and friends were as foreign to me as if I had never known them. If they were foreign to me, then they would have absolutely no meaning to family or friends. At this point I decided to write these memoirs to help bring my memories of this historic time into focus. Another factor prompting this decision was the death of my father when I was only a teenager. As I grew older I came to realize that there were many things about my father’s background that I wanted to know, but never would. Hopefully, if any questions occur, this will be of some use to my sons. -Willis Clark Dickerman |
